Adventures of An Ethical Miscreant
For vegan dog food anon: I use Natural Balance Vegetarian (it's vegan too) which is moderately priced and available at most pet stores. Also to save money look into making your own dog food. Often we supplement the kibble with rice, lentils, and other vegetables. My dog is really healthy and has lots of energy and shiny fur. As for cat food, that's a bit more tricky and expensive and requires a lot of research as cats are carnivores and sometimes not healthy on even a well researched vegan diet.

Thanks for this. I assume that you are in the US (or at least not in the UK because I would wager that no pet store sells vegan pet food here).

To the best of my knowledge: a vast majority of commerical pet food is just pure shite. The inedible parts of animals like bones, beaks, sinews and other junk all ground up. This has zero nutritional value, so a lot of pet foods are already supplemented with things your dog/cat needs. Your pets are just more inconsequential animals, so as little expense is afforded to them by the companies making their food in order to maximise profits.

With that in mind, it really makes no odds to your cat if you are feeding him cardboard and separate supplements so long as it is not hurting him and giving him all he needs to thrive.
